As the first collaboration project of Religions for Peace Japan and Religions for Peace Philippines, Religions for Peace Asia (ACRP) is pleased to announce that we will hold the first online shelter visit webinar to raise public awareness of The Front Lines of Sexual Exploitation on Saturday, June 17th, 2021.

According to the 2016 report by the ILO, more than 40 million people worldwide are victims of trafficking in persons, with sexual exploitation accounting for about 60% of the total. In addition to forced prostitution, there are also new forms of sexual exploitation, such as forced marriage, forced pornography, and cases of using Internet chat rooms. The problem is especially severe in Asia.

ACRP, a movement for multi-religious common action, has identified the ACRP Flagship Projects in April 2019, composed of five prioritized project areas. One of that projects is Prevention of Human Trafficking. Human Trafficking is not just the problem of certain countries, but all countries are involved as perpetrators. We as the citizen of the earth, must not distract ourselves from the fact.

Each national chapter of ACRP discusses the challenges of Human Trafficking faced in their countries and implements the project from multiple approaches to tackling the issues.

This seminar is the first online bilateral joint project that will be launched between WCRP/RfP Japan and WCRP/RfP Philippines.
We believe that it is an outstanding project that takes advantage of the current social situation under the COVID-19 pandemic where digital communication such as online is the mainstream.

In this online shelter visit, we will learn about the current situation of sexual exploitation and discuss concrete actions to be taken in the future, with the cooperation of the International Justice Mission, a support organization addressing sexual exploitation in the Philippines, in collaboration with the WCRP/RfP Philippines.
