The Religions for Peace International Executive Committee announces the appointment of Ms. Deepika Singh as Deputy Secretary General.

The Religions for Peace International Executive Committee announces the appointment of Ms. Deepika SINGH as Deputy Secretary General effective immediately. The Executive Committee voted unanimously on Ms. Singh’s appointment during its Extraordinary Meeting held virtually on 12 January 2024.
Ms. Singh served most recently as the Associate Secretary General and Director of Programmes of Religions for Peace, where she directs overall programme strategy and related implementation and monitoring.
Ms. Singh’s commitment to multi-religious action is rooted in decades of experience leading public health initiatives in the developing world, peacebuilding and reconciliation, and sustainable development globally. She is accomplished in successfully building multi-religious and multistakeholder partnerships and coalitions to address, among other priorities, women’s agency and the unique needs of children and youth.
Ms. Singh has more than 20 years of professional experience in international affairs and development, including service in USAID-funded programmes in Nepal and consultancies with UNDP, UNICEF, and other international NGOs. She holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Pace University in New York, USA; a Master of Arts degree from Dhaka University in Dhaka, Bangladesh; and a BA with honors from St. Bede’s College in Simla, India.
The Executive Committee, in its 12 January 2024 meeting, also voted to nominate a candidate for the position of Interim Secretary General who will serve until the 11th World Assembly. The nomination will be placed before the World Council for its potential affirmation.
