Sri Lanka President supports ACRP’s Peace Forum

Colombo, Sri Lanka.  His Excellency Ranil Wickremesinghe, the President of the Republic of Sri Lanka, has expressed his support to the holding of ACRP annual Executive Committee (EC) Meeting in Sri Lanka, in an unprecedented meeting with Religions for Peace Asia senior religious leaders headed by Rev. Dr. Yoshinori Shinohara, ACRP Secretary-General, at his official residence in Colombo on April 5, 2024.

His Excellency Ranil Wickremesinghe has also conveyed his great interest to address the High-Level National Peace Forum, which is the culminating program of the ACRP Executive Committee Meeting, aimed at strengthening Religions for Peace in its efforts of promoting harmony and peace in the country and in the region.

Facilitated by Most. Ven. Prof. Kotapitiya Rahula, the President of Sri Lanka Council of Religions for Peace (SLCRP), the historical meeting with the President of the country indicates the growing positive influence and deepening relationship of SCLCRP with the government to implement impactful programs through multi religious cooperation.

Rev. Dr. Wadinagala Pannaloka, Secretary General, Rev. Senior Professor Medawachchiye Dhammajothi Thero, senior advisor and Ms. Chritobel Saverimutto, Treasurer are the delegations of SCLRP, while Prof. Pablito A. Baybado, Jr, Associate Secretary General, and Ms. Minako Idei are from Religions for Peace Asia office.

The Executive Committee Meeting, which is the governing body of Religions for Peace Asia composed of around 50 senior religious leaders representing various religious traditions from from 22 countries in Asia, will have its annual gathering on May 28-31, 2024 in Colombo Sri Lanka.
